Warsaw Results

After 10 months off of the professional circuit because of a knagging shoulder injury, Maria Sharapova made a successful return to the WTA tour by eliminating Tathiana Garbin in 3 sets to advance at the Warsaw Open, a warmup to Roland Garros. To go along with the win, the Russian made a fashion statement as well, as she rarely fails to do, in a white and yellow nike design. No word has been said yet regarding whether Sharapova will compete at the French Open, but if she performs in Poland, things could be looking up. Number 4 seed Aleksandra Wozniack and number 7 seed Bethanie Mattek were both upset while Alyona Bondarenko served a double bagel to Katarzyna Piter. Jie Zheng fought back from a set down to advance.
