Roger rocks Rafa, wins Madrid crown

Roger Federer, who has not been able to defeat world number 1 Rafael Nadal since 2007, did the unthinkable of Sunday, by beating Rafa on clay. Nadal, who had won 33 straight matches on the surface prior to his encounter with Federer, seemed a little worn out from his epic win over Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. The Swiss Maestro got 67 % of his 1st serves in, 13 % better than in his heartbreaking loss to Nadal at the Australian Open. FedEx hit 25 winners, the majority of them off his worldclass forehand. With the win, Roger improves his record against Nadal to 7-13, and the triumph will give him a much needed momentum boost going into next week's French Open. Federer broke Nadal's serve at 4-4 in the 1st set, and at 2-2 in the second. Serving out the match at 5-4, the world number 2's nerves kicked in, but Fed saved 2 break points and was raising his arms in joy after 1 hour and 26 minutes.
