Roland Garros Results- Day 6

The first big upset of the tournament came on the first Friday of the French Open when 29th seeded Agnes Szavay defeated Venus Williams in 2 easy sets. After blanking Venus in the 1st set, Szavay won the 2nd 6-4 and called the win the best of her entire career. Rafael Nadal cruised past Lleyton Hewitt, and Andy Murray got by in 2 after Janko Tipsarevic retired down 2 sets to love. Novak Djokovic and Fernando Verdasco won straight setters, but Gilles Simon was upset by Victor Hanezcu. Dinara Safina continued her breeze through the draw, conceding just 2 games in her victory. Ana Ivanovic did the same, winning 6-0, 6-2 over Iveta Benesova. Maria Saharapova continued her remarkable comeback run by beating Yaroslava Shvedova in yet another 3 set battle. Na Li, Dominika Cibulkova and Aravane Rezai all won as well. Nikolay Davydenko ousted Stanislas Wawrinka in 4 sets, and Marin Cilic trounced Radek Stepanek in straights. Fernando Gonzalez advanced in 3 sets, while Phillip Kohlschreiber had a much tougher time, taking out former French Open champion, Juan Carlos Ferrero, in 5 sets. Robin Soderling upset David Ferrer after losing the first set.
