Both Williams sisters battled through tough 3 set maches on Monday in Miami, while Svetlana Kuznetsova had an easier time advancing to the quarters, winning an easy straight set match. Another top seed was ousted when Elena Dementieva went tumbling down. She was defeated by 13th seeded Caroline Wozniacki. Victoria Azarenka, Iveta Benesova and Samantha Stosur all advanced as well. Rafael Nadal was able to get through a tough test from Federico Gil, while Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro both reached the round of 16 without many difficulties. David Ferrer and Stanislas Wawrinka both came back from a set down to defeat their opponents, Marin Cilic and Igor Andreev, respectively. One surprise player in the final 16 is Viktor Troiki, who defeated Bjorn Phau in 2 sets to advance. Fernando Gonzalez is currently a set down to Radek Stepanek, while Fernando Verdasco's match with fellow Spaniard, Feliciano Lopez awaits.
