Davydenko withdraws from Miami
Maria Sharapova withdrew from the Sony Ericsson Open a few days ago and another Russian is doing the same today. Nikolay Davydenko, the defending champion in Miami, will not be competing due to a lingering foot infection. The same problem caused Davydenko to miss the Australian Open. The world number 5 will now lose 1000 points that were earned last eyar and will have to deal with the probability of him dropping out of the top 5. Davydenko has been in the top 5 for several years now but world number 6 Juan Martin del Potro and number 7 Andy Roddick could surpass him next week. If Roddick, del Potro and Gilles Simon ll ave good showings, Davydenko could fall to as far down as 8th.
