Indian Wells Results

Andy Murray spoiled a birthday Thursday at Indian Wells by defeating Ivan Ljubicic in two very close sets Thursday. It was a milestone birthday for Ljubicic, as he was turning 30, which is a pretty big one. Murray has yet to drop a set so far in the BNP Paribas Open. He barely kept that streak alive, but was abl to do it and now is in the semfinals. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova continued her unexpected yet brilliant run at Indian Wells by defeating 7th seeded Agnieszka Radwanska on Thursday. Pavlyuchenkova (quite the tongue twister) has now defeated Jelena Jankovic and Radwanska and is deservedly in he semfinals. She will play Ana Ivanovic, who will be well rested after winning by walkover in her match. Sybille Bammer cited a shoulder injury as her reason for being unable to continue on. The women's semfinals will feature Vera Zvonareva taking on teen Victoria Azarenka. The other match will feature the two winners from today. Last night, I was not able to post about Rafael Nadal's match because of the timing, but it was quite a match. Nadal lost the first set but ended up victorious after saving a stellar 5 match points against David Nalbadian. Roger Federer and Fernando verdasco are just getting started in their quarterfinal match.
