Miami Results

And another one bites the dust. Or another 4 I should say. After Jelena Jankovic was upset by Giselo Dulko in straight sets Saturday night, Dinara Safina, Ana Ivanovic, Vera Zvonareva and Nadia Petrova all were upset on Sunday in their 3rd round matches at the Sony Ericsson Open. Safina lost to Samantha Stosur, while Zvonareva fell to Na Li. Venus Williams won her 3rd round match against Anna-Lena Groenefeld in straights while her sister, Serena, was up a set an 2 breaks against Shuai Peng before play was interrupted. Russians, Elena Dementieva and Svetlana Kuznetsova both rolled on to the round of 16. Other winners included Victoria Azarenka, Caroline Wozniacki, Agnieszka Radwanska, Jie Zheng and Amelie Mauresmo. In men's action, Roger Federer dominated German Nicholas Kiefer and Andy Roddick got past Dimitry Tursunov. Gael Monfils and Marat Safin played what has been the tightest match of the tournament so far as Monfils came back from a break down in the third set to snatch the match away from the Russian and win in a tiebreak. Gilles Simon, another Frenchman, also came back from a set down to win. Jo Wilfried Tsonga and Taylor Dent also advanced. Novak Djokovic was 3 games into his meeting with Paul Henri Mathieu before the match was interrupted.
