Monte Carlo Results


Day 3 in Monte Carlo was woeful for the French, as Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon were upset. Paul Henri Mathieu only made the day worse when he was pummeled by David Nalbandian. Novk Djokovic and Andy Murray both looked impressive in their clay debuts as Djokovic dropped just 3 games, while Murray surrendered only 5. In a clash of former number 1's, Marat Safin defeated Lleyton Hewitt in 2 close sets. Other winners included Ivo Karlovic, Juan Monaco and David Ferrer, while Nicholas Almagro and Tommy Robredo were both upset.
