The only clay court tournament in America started today as the U.S. Mens Clay Courts Championships got underway. The tournament isn't played on the red clay, but it's clay nonetheless. Number 3 seed, Jurgen Melzer advanced, as did American Wayne Odesnik. In Casablanca, where the Grand Prix Hassan II started, Victor Hanescu and Florent Serra advanced. Former world number 3, Ivan Ljubicic upset number 8 seed Arnaud Clement in a marathon match.
