World number 6 and 2009 Australian Open semifinalist Vera Zvonareva withdrew from the French Open with a serious ankle injury. The Russia has been off the tour for over a month now after she suffered the injury chasing down a ball at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston. Katie O'Brian of Britain will take Zvonereva's spot in the draw and is now scheduled to face Olga Govortsova.
