Martina Navratilova Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

One of tennis' resident GOATs, Martina Navratilova, a 9-time Wimbledon champion, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite the shock, which Navratilova calls her "9/11," the prognosis is very positive, as the cancer is noninvasive and was discovered at an early stage.

In a phone interview the Czech says a lump was spotted in January, followed by the conduction of a biopsy, which concluded Navartilova had DCIS, or ductal carcinoma in situ. Next month she will start a 6-week radiation program.

Navartilova also said she wanted to keep the cancer quit initially, but then decided she wanted to help others, and released the news on Wednesday.

She will continue her duties as a Tennis Channel commentator while undergoing the radiation at the French Open.
