First the shoulder, not the elbow.
Just when Maria Sharapova has been back for a good amount of time, and is ostensibly healthy, a new injury arrives. In her Indian Wells loss to Jie Zheng a couple days ago, Sharapova revealed that her elbow had been bugging her and after waiting it out for a few days, the 3-time major champ has now withdrawn from next week's Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. MRI's have concluded that the Russian will be out for at least 3 weeks.
“I just felt like I couldn't really extend it all the way,” Maria told the BNP Paribas Open press. “It was a little stuck. I'm not sure if it's the balls or maybe the air and the tension is a little bit tighter. But [the trainer] said that more than average have been complaining
about arms, so I don't know.”

The withdrawal dampens an already weakened Miami field, as Dinara Safina has also pulled out.
Have a quick recovery Shazza!
