Kolya Upsets Fed, to Play Rafa in Final; Clijsters vs. Henin for Brisbane Championship

For the 2nd time in a row, and just the 2nd time ever, Nikolay Davydenko defeated Roger Federer. The Russian trounced the world number 1 6-4, 6-4, setting up a final clash with Rafael Nadal, who easily took out Viktor Troicki. “He tried to create pressure but I came up with winners when I wanted to,” said Davydenko. “I ran a lot and that made me tired, especially in the second set. But I fought for every point.” Although many were looking forward to a possible "fedal" match, which would have been the 1st time in what seems like AGES, it isn't bad to see Nikolay keep up this insane level of tennis. Rafa isn;t playing too bad himself, having had steamrolled through his side of the draw, showing increasing confidence.

At the Brisbane International, the tennis Gods gave us what we wanted: A Clijsters/Henin final. The two Belgians took out Ana Ivanovic and Andre Petkovic respectively. Henin absolutely demolished Ana Ivanovic, while Clijsters did the same to Petkovic, setting up a much-anticipated final between two of tennis' best. In the men's event, Andy Roddick defeated Richard Gasquet to advance to the semifinals, along with Tomas Berdych, who prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker over Tomaz Bellucci.
