Suddenly, Elena Dementieva is one to watch in the 2010 Australian Open, and if her performance in the final of the Medibank International against Serena Williams didn't show it, I have no idea what will. Williams, bothered by a leg injury for much of the match, went down 6-2, 6-2 to the Russian, and said afterwards that there is just a little pain in her knee. But, to no surprise, the world number 1 insists she is ready to go for Melbourne, and that the pain is good for her body.
As for Dementieva, an absolute domination of the draw in Sydney should make her a favorite at the year's first major. But, she has a very, very tough, draw, which I'll get to later.

Oh, and Elena, just a thought: You should think about giving your nurse outfit during the trophy ceremonies the ax.
