On day 1 of the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, which has a less than stellar field, Americans Sam Querrey, John Isner and Wayne Odesnik all advanced to the 2nd round. Ernests Gulbis was defeated by Marc Gicquel and Frank Dancevic overcame Bobby Reynolds. 8th seed Denis Istomin won as well.
