Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer to win the Australian Open Sunday, in a thrilling 5 set battle, that included everything you could ask for in a tennis match. Nadal won the first set 7-5, after Federer was leading 4-2. Federer came back to win the next set 6-3. In the third, after Nadal served at 4-4, 0-40 and 5-5, 15-40, Nadal was able to grind the set out in a tiebreak. The fourth was once again Roger's, 6-3, after Nadal showed sings of fatigue and was not able to hold serve early in the set. Although Nadal had already played a 5 hour and 14 minute match, and the final was creeping up on 4 hours, he was able to throw it all out of the window, breaking Federer early and breaking him to finish the match off, 6-2, and earn himself his first hard court Grand Slam. Nadal looks closer to completeing the career "Grand Slam" than Federer, who needs the French Open to complete the feat. Nadal now needs just the U.S. Open.
