Stepanek battles back to take San Jose crown

Radek Stepanek won his second title of the season in San Jose after beating Andy Roddick in a tough 3 setter in the semis, and then doing the same against Mardy Fish in the final. The 21st ranked Czech came back after losing the first set 6-3. Stepanek won the second 6-4, and ran away with the third, 6-2. In 2008, Stepanek reached the San Jose final, losing to Andy Roddick. Stepanek started off rocky, dropping his first service game, which proved to be the decider of the first set. The match was 110 minutes old when Stepanek converted on triple break point to earn himself 250 ATP points and 93,900 in prize money. Fish finshed 2nd place to Roddick in San Jose in 2003. After holding his serve all but once leading up to the final, the American was broken 3 times in the final, and Stepanek proved to much to handle.
