Davydenko Triumphs Over Nando in Malaysia

Nikolay Davydenko won the Malaysian Open on Sunday with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Fernando Verdasco. The win gave Davydenko three titles on the year to go along with his wins in Hamburg and Umag. Davydenko deeated Robin Soderling en route to the finals where the Russian used his world-class groundstrokes to push Verdasco around. “I played well but there were lucky points,” said the world number 8. “If it had gone into the third set, I don’t know what would have happened.” The two are set to compete in Beijing this week.
