The U.S. Open seedings, announced on Monday for the men and Tuesday for the women, strictly followed the rankings, but withdrawals by the likes of Serena Williams and Juan Martin del Potro have thrown a bit of a twist into this year's list. Caroline Wozniacki, ranked 2nd in the world, was awarded the top seed after Williams announced that she would be unable to compete due to a foot injury. Rounding out the top 4 is Kim Clijsters, Venus Williams and Jelena Jankovic. On the men's side, Rafael Nadal takes the top seed, followed by Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.
