Henin to Miss US Open with Ligament Tear

Justine's Henin return to the WTA Tour has been cut short by a partial ligament tear to her right elbow, sustained during the first set of the Belgian's match with Kim Clijsters, when Henin slipped and fell at the baseline. The injury forces the 18th-ranked Henin to miss the year's last slam, the US Open, and next week's "Best of Belgium" exhibition with Clijsters.

Shortly after the fall, Henin received on-court treatment for the injury, but played on, losing the last two sets.

"This injury will keep me away from the courts for roughly two months, with the consequence that I have to withdraw from my US round of tournaments, including the US Open," said the 7-time Grand Slammer. "In four weeks, I'll take complementary medical examinations that will give me certainty about the end of this season."

Let's all hope that Henin can return to the tour in the fall healthy and ready to end the year with a bang.

Also, Serena has stepped in and willl replace Henin at the exhibition, confirmed by Clijsters through Twitter.
